Learn more about The McCarty Mini Sleeve

McCarty Mini Sleeve
This novel surgical technique uses natural entrances to the abdominal cavity and avoids the many painful incisions through the abdominal wall that are often required with standard laparoscopy. Much of the operation can be performed using a minimally invasive approach called Natural Orifice Trans-endoluminal Endoscopic Surgery or NOTES. Employing this technique results in less pain, lower risk for complications, faster recovery times, few scars and no overnight hospital stay.

Mini Sleeve Procedure Patient Benefits

Will I lose the same amount of weight with the Mini Sleeve as I would with the regular sleeve?

Yes, the Mini Sleeve offers the exact same results as the traditional laparoscopic gastric sleeve.

Can I get pregnant after surgery?

Yes. In fact, many patients who struggled to get pregnant prior to surgery due to PCOS and weight-related issues find that it is easier to get pregnant after surgery. We have had over 50 patients become pregnant after being unable to conceive before surgery.

How long is the surgery, and what kind of anesthesia do you use?

The Mini Sleeve procedure usually takes about 30 minutes, and general anesthesia is used. However, it’s performed as an outpatient procedure and patients typically go home within 2 to 6 hours after surgery.

How soon can I start exercising?

One of the benefits of the Mini Sleeve is that you can start working out as soon as you feel ready! Remember: You don’t have any physical or lifting restrictions.

What is my post-op visit schedule?

Dr. McCarty likes to see or speak with all patients at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery. You will also have another nutrition class at 6 weeks after surgery.
